Ivan's KAACK Betaflight firmware is required. Flash 4.4.1 ZULU in the configurator and apply commit #12269.
This firmware includes a version of the RPM limiter Tanner Beard developed. At this point, you MUST run BLHeli32 firmware 32.9.
The RPM limiter is able to be enabled in the OSD and should be set to "180" which is 18,000 RPM limit.
Our goal is to be able to eventually open up the motor requirement. The first step is to test the champs edition motors from Five33. If anyone is willing to give that a shot and provide some feedback that would be incredible.
From our large scale test at the long track & super oval race, we are blown away by the work Tanner has done with the RPM limiter. There were no outlier "fast" quads but a couple of what we would consider slow quads.
On the oval, pilots may have seen an improvement in speed with more weight? The sample sizes were small to know for sure but if anyone has any thoughts in regard to why that would be possible, please opine.
The top 8 pilots were only separated by 1.4% after qualifying on the 1 mile oval. This is compared to 3.x% and 4.x% at IO and FS champs respectively. There is no doubt that the quads are closer!
