RACE CLASS SPECIFICATIONS

MultiGP races are divided into different classes depending on  drone specs used for the race.

MultiGP races are divided into different classes depending on  drone specs used for the race.
When you create a race on MultiGP.com or using our RaceSync you have to pick a class for your race and every pilot has to follow the rules of that class.

Remember, classes are guidelines to provide competitive standards within a typical MultiGP race day. Chapters can choose to define and run their own classes if they wish by definining them during event planning.

As new technology is released, classes and specs will be updated to either incorporate or withhold the advancements to maintain fair competition as the number one priority.

Why do we use classes?

  1. They level the playing field so one pilot doesn’t have an advantage over another by using more powerful equipment.  This allows the pilot’s skill to win the race, not their equipment.

  2. Aircraft builds can be planned with confidence that they will be accepted into competition.

  3. To ensure radio equipment is compatible with fellow pilot’s equipment as to not cause interference.

The Open Class is available to all multirotors under 800 grams flying weight.  This class is designed to promote competition between all styles and configurations of aircraft to help evolve innovation in technology and design.

What class will be the next official class?

The above classes are very popular and cover a wide spectrum of aircraft sizes and flying spaces, however, there are no restrictions if you would like to start your own local class. Maybe someday it will grow to be recognized like these classes!

Some items to consider when making your class:

  • Battery capacity
  • Battery voltage
  • Flight controller
  • Motor size
  • Number of motors
  • Number of propeller blades
  • Propeller size
  • Video transmitter (VTx)
  • Weight

Comments:

Remember, classes are guidelines to provide competitive standards within a typical MultiGP race day. Chapters can choose to define and run their own classes if they wish by defining them during event planning.

Many pilots will ask why the power limit of the Video Transmitter (VTx) is limited to 25mW. This is to increase the success rate of multiple pilots having perfectly clear video transmission. If some pilots are transmitting at a higher power, the chance of experiencing frequency issues increases.

As new technology is released, classes and specs will be updated to either incorporate or withhold the advancements to maintain fair competition as the number one priority.

All aircraft must be built with the ability to easily change VTx channels in a timely and accurate manner.

Please race safely!
