COMPETITIONS ON THIS TRACK

7″ Night racing is the hottest new racing at IO!  This year we will have 2 opportunities for night racing with 7″ drones!!  Our first opportunity is with the IO 7″ Spec Day.  Pilots have all day, with no pack limit to get their best time on the Spec Track.  The Spec Track was designed by Travis Dailey, who also did the track design for the MultiGP Sharjah Race of Champions!  This spec should be easy to adopt your quad to, just remember to use the new MultiGP firmware, TBA!

Requirements:

  • MultiGP Spec Firmware set to 7″
  • 7″ Frame with traditional arms, ie Spec 7, Prig, in which the total cross sectional area of the arms is greater than 90mm squared.
  • AUW a minimum of 1280g
  • Any 2808 class motor or motor with a stator volume less than a 2808 motor.
  • Any BLHeli32 ESC
  • Any video link that is Analog or HDzero
  • Any control link
  • 5s2200 mAh Battery
  • 7″ GEMFAN Prop supplied on the track
  • The drones must have LEDs visible from all angles. Make it Pretty!!!

Qualifying

  • Tone Start
  • Lap 1’s time will start at the Start/Finish Gate
  • Fastest Consecutive Laps TBD

Finals

  • Top 24 Make the Finals
  • Next 24 make the Next Finals
  • Heads Up Racing
  • Double Elimination Bracket

We know you saw the Sharjah race and wanted nothing more than to experience that epic track with stock drones!  Now is your chance, minus the truss gates, cool lighting, and desert air!

The Stock Race will be premium event at IO with a limited number of tickets for sale, available here!  Each pilot will bind one of the Sharjah drones to their radio via ELRS.  Each Pilot will be assigned a 1 hour flying slot to come to the track.  Then they will have 3 heats, to send it Sharjah style!  The leaderboard will be based on your fastest single lap, which will feed you into the Sharjah style finals.  The winner will win a Sharjah drone AND there will be a Sharjah drone raffled off to anyone that bought a ticket!

This event will feature the HQ  7×5.5×3 prop!

Requirements

  • Must purchase in addition to IO ticket.
  • Must have ELRS (some loaner modules may be available)
  • Must have HDzero Goggles

Qualifying

  • Each pilot gets 3 heats to fly
  • Ranked on fastest Lap

Finals

  • Divided into 3 groups of 16
  • Top 16 group divided into 4 groups of 4.
  • Each group of 4 race, with the winners advancing to the final race.
  • Final Race is chase the ace
  • Same format for the other 2 groups of 16
  • Only the winner of the top 16 wins the Sharjah Drone

Let’s race!  The idea for the group races is that using predetermined data we can group pilots to provide more actual drone racing at IO then drone qualifying.  This format is subject to change by the Race Director to best suit the needs of our newest pilots!

Requirements:

  • 800g or less
  • No battery limit.
  • No prop limit

Qualifying Heats:

  • None

Format:

  • Tone Start
  • Best to 3 Laps (unless track leader determines otherwise)
  • More than 32 Pilots, Format A
  • 32 Pilots or less Format A or B

Format A:   Triple run mains,  to a final main

  • Pilots are randomly assigned into one of 6 subgroups of up to 8 pilots.
  • Each subgroup will race 3 times. The winner of the subgroup will be determined by combined finishing position in all 3 races. The tie-breaker is the pilot with the  best single finishing position (1-2-3, beats a 2-2-2) . If there is still a tie, then the best laps/time from the best finishing position run is the final tie breaker
  • Subgroup winners will advance to the A-Main event for 3 races, which will follow the same format to determine the winner of this group race.

Requirements:

  • Any pilot that is listed as a Chapter Organizer or Chapter Manager on MultiGP.com may enter.
  • 800g or less
  • No battery limit.
  • No prop limit

Qualifying Heats:

  • None

Finals:

  • Best to 2 or 3 Laps (unless track leader determines otherwise)
  • Two brackets of 16 pilots, 4 up,  based on your group data
